This Policy Analyst I will serve as a Task Force and Policy Specialist in the Office of Policy, Planning, and Programs (OPPP). This is a full time TIME-LIMITED position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits for a limited duration of time. (The anticipated duration is two years, with the potential to extend up to 36months.) The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. We value our employees and are committed to providing flexibility in work schedules. This position qualifies for teleworking on a part-time basis as part of the State Telework Program.
The Policy Analyst will provide comprehensive support to DPS task forces addressing a wide range of public safety topics by facilitating collaboration across departments, developing and refining policies and procedures, and leveraging data analytics to inform decision-making and drive effective solutions. This role will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to examine complex safety challenges, collect and analyze relevant data, and contribute to the creation of actionable recommendations that enhance community safety and well-being. By integrating policy expertise with analytical skills, the position ensures that task force initiatives are grounded in best practices, informed by evidence, and aligned with organizational goals for public safety improvement.

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years progressively responsible experience related to the area of assignment;
or
an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Military Experience
