Please note: this is a fully remote position that can be carried out from anywhere on the globe. However, as the office is in Toronto, Canada the role will be aligned with ET. 



Torn Banner Studios is a Toronto, Canada-based independent game development studio founded in 2010. We first made our mark with Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, a multi-million copy selling title that redefined melee combat in gaming. Since then, we’ve continued to grow and innovate, releasing Chivalry 2 and, most recently, No More Room in Hell 2, currently in Early Access. Today, our team of around 100 developers is dedicated to creating unique, challenging, and fun gaming experiences.


We are looking for a Community Manager to foster and grow strong relationships with our dedicated community of players. You will be responsible for improving developer/community relations, building bridges between the community and our team, finding pathways to share development progress with fans, and more. This is both a product and company-level position


Responsibilities

  • Foster a consistent relationship with all audience levels, from hardcore veterans to casual and mainstream players.
  • Be social and create content. Ensure that the community feels genuinely listened to and informed of development progress.
  • Write short & long form copy, like social media posts, news/blogposts, & patch notes.
  • Fully integrate yourself within the development team, take command of the role and understand how to bring the communities feedback to life as part of our studio’s production process
  • Reach out as far as possible to expand the community.
  • Create pathways to involve development team members in community relations.
  • Be a community steward: Inspire player-made content and provide customer support
  • Manage the development of shareable game assets (teasers, screenshots, videos, gifs, etc) by our team
  • Develop and execute Community Management plans, understanding how to divide up time and set priorities independently


Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional experience in video game community relations, with a firm understanding of the full community management mix
  • Strong, positive personality with a highly independent work ethic. You will be expected to be a face and voice of the studio.
  • Writing and content creation chops; this person must work independently like an embedded reporter
  • Experience with creating and following content schedules
  • An intricate understanding of best practices for social media tools available through Discord, Steam, reddit, Twitter, Facebook, forums, etc
  • Able to regularly review your efforts, seek internal feedback and react to it


Bonus

  • Has previous experience working on AAA products at gaming publishers or developers.
  • Experience in:
    • Video editing
    • On-camera personality videos (i.e. Youtube or Twitch)
    • Public speaking
    • Quality Assurance
    • Journalism
    • Event Management
    • Game community and/or server moderation
  • Passion for action games, melee combat and Torn Banner titles generally
  • Basic knowledge of Photoshop
